This is a great story, one for the record books, at least for me.
A little background first, a couple of months ago I got a call from Kathleen of Jeremey and Kathleen. Rachel went to design school at OU with her and she said she and her husband were looking for an investment/rental close to OCU. Rolling up in high style on their Vespa to view houses was definitely cool. So we found them a great place and they had a tenants beating down their door offering top dollar they day they listed it for rent.
Shortly after Kathleen called again, this time with a different request. She and her sister had finally talked her parents into moving from Hall Park/Norman area up to Oklahoma City if they could find exactly the right house. Her dad, Scott, had one minor requirement. He wanted to be able to through a fishing line in a lake from the back porch of his house. Because of the gorgeous listing I have in Briarcreek at www.NewmanDrive.com I knew exactly where to take them. I sent them a listing on the lake in the neighborhood and soon received a call that they wanted to take a look.
When I pulled up to meet them for the first time in front of the house, I could tell they were kind of excited. They had already wondered around to the back to see the outstanding view and steps down to the water. Scott walked up and said, this is pretty close to what we have been dreaming about for years. The inside of the home was nicely updated and spacious with outstanding views of the water from almost every room. While his wife Wanda and their daughter were ooing and awwing inside, Scott looked at me and said there is one final test!
He walked out to the car, pulled out a fishing pole and proceeded to the back porch and through a line in. I kid you not, wthin a minute, HE HAD A BITE from a 3 lb bass. He turned at me and said, we’re sold, how much is this place again. And the rest was history, well almost.
Oh yeah, we listed their current home in Norman and had an offer in 1 day!
I will never forget the fishing pole and I want to thank that fish for showing Scott some love, at just the right moment.
That is what I absolutely love the most about this business, not the money, or the awards and accolades. Knowing that I was able to help Scott & Wanda find the dream home they had been looking for nearly 20 years is why I do what I do. There is no better feeling than knowing you helped someone put their finger on the thing they needed a little direction finding.
Scott & Wanda, enjoy your dream home. And let me know when you catch the big one that got away!
